At GRITT Athletics we have a team of experienced, knowledgeable coaches, in an incredibly inclusive and adaptive environment, that allows us to achieve exactly what Glassman is saying.
How many of you know your back squat PR? Or your best 500M row time? Or your fastest Fran time? Now…how many of you know how much protein you’ve eaten today? I’m willing to bet more of you have the former MEMORIZED and little to none of you know the latter. We have to have balance, but it doesn’t have to feel like a task to achieve that balance.
CrossFit at its simplest tells us: “Eat meat and veggies, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, no (added) sugar”; and practice “constantly varied, functional movements, at an intensity relative to your physical and psychological tolerances. “ That’s about as old school, simple, and easy to follow as it gets.
This doesn’t mean you have to CUT OUT ALL CARBS/treats/glasses of wine and go do 100 air squats during every commercial break every night. Heck no. Just pay attention to what you put in your body and how much better you feel when you fuel properly. Don’t skip squat day just because you have a bad knee, or snatch day because your shoulder is sore; don’t NOT show up on cardio day when you see running programmed but you twisted your ankle a couple days ago. Skipping out/cherry picking puts you further back from achieving your goals. The more classes you skip, the longer you stay inactive, the longer you put off changing your eating habits = the less functional and less you will be able to contribute to your quality of life as you age. Our coaches are there for us to help ADAPT and MODIFY. Let them do this! In doing so, you WILL feel better.
We are part of one of the most amazing local fitness families I’ve ever experienced. This small family of ours is part of a larger community called CROSSFIT. Embrace it. You ARE a Crossfitter.
